Whether you bought from a McCurley dealership, Bud Clary, or a Pasco or Richland dealer, RCW 19.118 covers you. We've handled cases for Eastern Washington drivers across every major brand — Ford, RAM, Toyota, Chevrolet, Subaru, Hyundai.

What Is Washington's Lemon Law?

Washington's lemon law — formally the Motor Vehicle Warranties Act (RCW 19.118), often called "Wallace's Lemon Law" — protects new-vehicle buyers and lessees whose vehicles have a serious defect that the manufacturer can't fix in a reasonable number of attempts.

Unlike many states, Washington offers a free state-administered arbitration program through the New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board (NMVAB). If you qualify, you can pursue a refund (buyback) or a comparable replacement vehicle — and the manufacturer typically pays your attorney fees if you win.

Do YouQualify Under Washington Lemon Law?

  • It has a serious defect substantially impairing use, value, or safety.
  • The manufacturer has had a reasonable number of repair attempts (generally 4+, or 2 for serious safety defects).
  • Your vehicle has been out of service for a cumulative 30+ days for warranty repairs.
